Visits and tastings

Cervesa del Montseny

Cervesa del Montseny organises tours and beer tastings at its microbrewery at Sant Miquel de Balenyà, Seva (Barcelona).

The organised visit takes in a tour of the production facilities of the microbrewery with a simultaneous explanation of the brewing process, followed by a tasting of various beers produced by Companyia Cervesera del Montseny, accompanied by a light snack.

These events are aimed at groups or individuals who, once signed up, we will aim to place within a group. We will ensure that the group is no larger than thirty people and the price charged will be 13€ per person.

On completion of the tour of our production facility it will be possible to purchase Montseny beers.

Visits take place on pre-determined Saturdays between 11am and 1pm. Please, review the available dates on the calendar.

First part

In the First part of the tour, Companyia Cervesera del Montseny SLL will introduce itself and explain its make-up, history and origins. The “Blat” and “Malta” beers will be tasted, accompanied by a light snack. The characteristics of these two beers will be explained and we will also begin to talk about the brewing process, an explanation which will continue throughout the tour.

Second part

In the Second part of the tour we will go down to the production area for an observation and explanation of the main elements that make up the brewing process: hot water tank, mash tun, cooking boiler, heat exchanger, fermenting, and bottling and labelling machinery.

Third part

Finally, in the Third part of the tour two further beers will be tasted, the “Negra” and “Lupulus“, and we will comment on their characteristics. The different families of beers will be explained and within them the current distinct styles. We will explain the virtues of natural beers, which are not pasteurised, the principal differences between natural and industrial beers and the organoleptic and socialising properties of beer. Also we will respond to any questions arising from the tour.

Thus this tour and tasting offered by Companyia Cervesera del Montseny affords the opportunity to visit an authentic Catalan microbrewery. A “micro” with a production capacity of 3.000 litres per brew, like many such microbreweries already in existence in several European countries and which are just being introduced in our own country.
