At the Barcelona Beer Festival, the Companyia cervesera del Montseny was awarded as the best artisan brewery of the year in the Barcelona Beer Challenge first edition, the first and most important craft beer contest in Spain. Cervesa del Montseny received 5 medals (three gold medals and 2 silver medals) in different categories. Out of 143 different beers that took part in the contest, Cervesa del Montsey was awarded as the number one.
In that first edition of the Barcelona Beer Challenge, 47 different categories were established, each of which received three different medals (gold, silver and bronze). Each category was assessed by a professional jury that was both, nationally and internationally accredited. The winning beer is granted to show, for a whole year, a digitized stamp on its label in recognition of the achievement. The Barcelona Beer Challenge aims to become a European reference in a short time.
Many medals for the Cerveses del Montseny
Cervesa del Montseny is one of the many pioneer companies in the thriving sector of the craft beer breweries. Our eagerness to innovate has taken us to produce new beers, some of which were awarded in the Barcelona Beer Festival. Apart from the most important prize as the best beer of the year, the Cervesa del Montseny was given a gold medal for the Montseny Mala Vida, a gold medal for the Montseny Mala Vida Bourbon, a gold medal for the Montseny Mala Vida Xili, a silver medal for the Montseny Mala Vida Brandy and a silver medal for the Montseny IPA anniversary.
The company’s master brewer, Jordi Llebaria, is really pleased with such great recognition: “We are immensely proud of the award, as it recognises many years of hard work in order to spread the craft beer culture. This recognition is even more special considering the high prestige of the Barcelona Beer Festival.”
